Back at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, whose epicenter was in Great Britain, a man named Samuel Ludd was upset that machines were replacing humans in the factories. In fact, he was so upset that he assembled several angry mobs that proceeded to literally demolish this new “technology,” hoping that somehow it would just go away. Hence we now have the term “Luddite,” which refers to someone who actively resists – or at least is slow to adopt – new technology.
