Role description: Chief Marketing Officer

The primary areas of responsibility for the agency’s Chief Marketing Officer nclude new business development as well as agency branding, positioning and promotion. With the support of internal resources and teams, this position manages the agency’s corporate new business process while serving as the primary point of contact for all business development.

Key Responsibilities

New Business

  1. Manages and directs the agency’s new business efforts to ensure that the goals of the annual new business plan and being met.
  2. Establishes and maintains regular meetings with the agency’s new business team to provide updates to others in the agency.
  3. With input from the agency’s new business team, develops and maintains a list of new business prospects.
  4. Establishes a system for proactively pursuing new business.
  5. Serve as the initial point of contact for most new business leads.
  6. Leads the development of RFP responses.
  7. Oversees the development of new business presentations.
  8. Meets with new business prospects to determine marketing communication needs.

Agency Marketing

  1. Develops an annual strategic plan with specific goals, strategies, audiences, tactics and measurement for positioning the agency to its primary publics.
  2. Oversees the development and implementation of the agency marketing plan.
  3. Oversees develop of social media program for the agency brand.
  4. Ensures that the agency online search program (organic and paid) is optimized.
  5. Takes responsibility for the effectiveness and accuracy of the agency website.
  6. Establishes annual budget for self-promotion promotion (i.e. awards entries, press release distribution, collateral production, etc.).
  7. Oversees the development and maintenance of a permission-based email database of prospects and other key audiences.
  8. Develops and maintains internal communications programs to keep agency staff informed of agency new business, marketing, and publicity.
  9. Ensures that the agency is proactively seeking opportunities to write, speak and showcase its intellectual capital.
  10. Oversees an active publicity program for the agency.
  11. Helps represent and promote the agency at industry functions.
  12. Establishes and maintains relationships with agency search consultants.
