Role description: Practice Leader
The concept of the Practice Leader isn’t necessarily a full-time job, but rather a role within the agency that may overlay on top of another job title. The Practice Leader is tasked with serving as a thought leader and knowledge manager in a certain area of agency expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and nurtures a deep expertise in a vertical market, category, business segment or discipline.
- Proactively shares expertise with others on the team and in the agency.
- Catalogues knowledge and expertise for easy access by others in the firm.
- Represents the agency’s practice area expertise in new business and agency marketing efforts.
- Contributes to the development of new business materials and presentations related to the practice area.
- Attends relevant conferences, networks with industry leaders, and seeks appropriate speaking opportunities.
- Develops ways for the agency to share its intellectual capital with current and prospective clients, such as agency-sponsored seminars, white papers, POV pieces, etc.
- Identifies opportunities to publicize the agency’s practice area expertise.
- Actively participates in the online discussion about the practice area, including:
- Monitoring online discussions
- Reading and posting to appropriate blogs and online publications
- Contributing to an agency blog
- Fostering online relationships with appropriate bloggers and other online influencers
- Developing and maintaining appropriate profile pages on social networking sites
