Management Value Assessment

Ignition’s new Management Value Assessment is a state-of-the art tool designed to evaluate the agency’s management group on both their collective and individual ability to create value for their clients and for the agency itself. The assessment measures both group and individual performance in four broad areas:

1. External Value Creating Skills
2. Internal Value Creating Skills
3. Management Skills
4. Interpersonal Skills

  • Group Assessment
  • Individual Assessment

The management group as a whole is rated both the management group itself as well as the entire staff. This way, the management group can compare their self-assessment with that of the employees to see if perceptual gaps exist.

The assessment is done on-line at a secure web site. Management group respondents are first asked to rank the factors in each area in order of their value creating potential or importance. Then, all respondents are asked to rate the current performance of the management group on the factors.

The results for each of the four areas are plotted on grids which readily show those factors that are:

More Important
Less Important
More Important
High Performance
Less Important
Low Performance
Less Important
High Performance

Separate grids are used to show the management group’s perspective and that of the employees. A gap analysis highlights any significant differences between the two. Having obtained a fix on its current performance, the management group is then able to develop and implement a plan to increase its value creating abilities for the benefit of its clients and the agency itself.

For the assessment of individual managers, there are several different versions of the assessment depending on the function of the individual, including:

  • General management
  • Account management
  • Creative
  • Media

Ratings of individual managers come from the manager, supervisor, and direct reports. The ratings are plotted and reported using the same grid as above, comparing and contrasting “importance” with performance.”
